Overview

China automation is not one supplier market.

One buyer may need a standard packaging machine. Another may need a custom assembly cell, a six-axis robot integrator, a cobot supplier, an AGV fleet, a machine vision inspection system, or a complete production line. These are different supplier ecosystems with different qualification questions.

The useful way to approach China automation is to start from the process: what product moves through the line, what changes from unit to unit, what quality checks are required, what cycle time matters, and what the plant can maintain after installation.

Automate China works buyer-side. We do not present a generic supplier marketplace. We help define the supplier category, prepare the RFQ, compare quotes by scope, validate factories, and plan factory acceptance testing.

Main China automation supplier categories

Where China automation suppliers cluster

The supplier map depends on the category. Guangdong is strong for electronics, assembly equipment, robot cells, and fast prototyping. Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai are strong for industrial equipment, machine vision, packaging, smart factory systems, and line integration. Shandong, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing, and other regions can matter for machinery, heavy industry, logistics, and specialized equipment.

Use the public automation supplier map preview to see the major clusters. For a real project, the goal is not to visit every city. The goal is to build a shortlist that fits the process and then sequence supplier visits so technical comparison is possible.

How to qualify China automation suppliers

QuestionWhat to verifyWhy it matters
Supplier categoryMachine builder, robot integrator, OEM, controls team, vision supplier, or line contractor. The wrong category creates weak proposals and hidden integration gaps.
Comparable workInstalled machines, videos, references, factory builds, and test results close to your process.Comparable evidence is stronger than sales confidence.
Engineering ownershipMechanical, electrical, controls, safety, vision, commissioning, and project management roles. You need to know who solves problems when the line does not behave like the demo.
RFQ disciplineProduct data, cycle time, layout, samples, quality rules, utilities, safety, and FAT criteria.Good RFQs make quotes comparable and reduce assumption-driven pricing.
Support modelDocumentation, spare parts, remote support, install help, training, warranty, and code access.Automation value depends on keeping the system running after shipment.
