The first decision is the supplier category.
Many searches for automation companies in China start too broadly. The buyer asks for "automation suppliers" and receives quotes from companies with very different roles. One quote may come from a true machine builder, another from a robot integrator, another from a trading company, and another from a component seller stretching into project work.
The right supplier category depends on the process. A packaging line, a robotic welding cell, a PCBA test fixture, a machine vision inspection station, and an AGV fleet should not be sourced with the same questions.

Questions that separate strong automation companies from weak ones
- Who owns mechanical design, electrical design, PLC programming, HMI, safety, and commissioning?
- Can the company show equipment close to your process, not just a showroom demo?
- Which components are in-house choices and which are buyer-specified plant standards?
- How will cycle time, reject rate, quality checks, and uptime be tested before shipment?
- What drawings, samples, videos, and production data does the supplier need before quoting?
- What support is available after export: manuals, code backups, spares, remote help, and site visits?
