Overview

A cobot project still needs real integration discipline.

Collaborative robot arms can reduce guarding and deployment complexity, but they do not remove the need for gripper design, part presentation, cycle-time proof, safety validation, programming, and operator workflow planning.

Common cobot applications

Machine tending

Light CNC loading, injection molding take-out, press tending, tray movement, and part handling.

Assembly and dispensing

Screwdriving, gluing, inspection, testing, barcode handling, and operator-assist workstations.

Inspection and sorting

Vision-guided checks, pick/place, reject handling, and low-volume flexible cells.

Education and R&D

Robotics labs, prototype stations, dexterous hand testing, and integration experiments.

Supplier validation checks

  • Payload, reach, repeatability, speed limits, safety mode, and force limits.
  • Programming environment, SDK/API access, controller support, and documentation.
  • End-effector ecosystem, spare parts, warranty, and overseas support.
  • FAT using real parts, grippers, operator workflow, and safety assumptions.
