“Automation machinery supplier” can mean several different things in China: a custom machine builder, a robot-cell integrator, a packaging OEM, a conveyor specialist, a vision company, or a contractor coordinating several of them. The labels overlap. The engineering responsibilities do not.
Start by asking where the risk sits. Is it the mechanics of a special-purpose machine, the behaviour of a product in a gripper, the speed of a packaging line, or the handoff between several systems? Once that is clear, the right supplier category becomes much easier to see.

What to include when contacting automation machinery suppliers
Factories respond better when the first contact looks like a real machine project rather than a request for a price list. Give them enough detail to confirm fit, ask useful questions, and quote the same scope as everyone else.
- Product drawings, photos, samples, tolerances, variation range, and known defects.
- Current process video, manual steps, operator count, pain points, and target cycle time.
- Required checks: vision, leak, electrical, force, weight, barcode, OCR, dimensional, or functional test.
- Preferred PLC, robot, servo, HMI, sensor, camera, pneumatic, and safety component brands.
- Line layout, utilities, floor space, guarding requirements, operator access, and changeover expectations.
- Factory acceptance test rules, sample quantity, runtime target, reject handling, and documentation needs.

Red flags before choosing a supplier
- The quote is fast but the supplier has not reviewed samples, drawings, tolerances, cycle time, and acceptance criteria.
- The proposal focuses on machine frame and component brands but says little about controls, tooling, fixture logic, and fault recovery.
- FAT is described as a short demo instead of a written test with real samples, runtime targets, and reject cases.
- The supplier cannot explain who owns installation, remote support, spare parts, PLC backups, manuals, and training after shipment.
